This Dad Gave His Daughter a Pride Flag For Christmas For the Sweetest Reason

Dakotah Whitcomb had one special request on her Christmas list this year. The 20-year-old Ohio native asked her dad to buy a rainbow pride flag, and his reaction was priceless. “When I first saw that a Gay Pride Flag was on your list, at first I thought it was an odd request,” her father Ron, a retired Marine, wrote. “But after thinking about [it], I think I know why.”

In his touching response letter, Ron expressed that he understood how Dakotah may feel left out from her family. “I reckon that you feel that everyone else in the family, expect grandma, has a flag that represents something we were/are a part of. I have the Marine Corps, grandpa and Mom have the Navy, and Darr has the Army,” he continued. “So it makes sense that you would want a flag to represents something you are a part of.”

Ron not only gifted his bisexual daughter with a gay flag, but he also promised to hang it up outside alongside the other family flags on display this Spring. “I present you with this flag, to display how you would like. In the spring, when I hang the flags up, I would be proud to hang yours up. Love you, DAD.”
